Hi Jane, Thank you for posting this obit. Newton J. Hudelson is my grandfather. I am especially glad to know the name of the funeral home. Maybe I will be able to learn more from them if they are still in existence or if some other has their records. Do you know if Fortmiller is still in operation? We knew that he was supposed to be buried at Riverside but his name does not appear in the published list. I suspect that he has no stone. Do you have access to the actual newspaper clipping? If so, is there a possibility of getting a photocopy? Thanks again, Anne At 5:31 PM -0800 3/3/2001, Jane Hutchings wrote: >Lebanon Express >June 25, 1936 > >Newton H. Greetings, I wanted to let you all know that I haven't been "hiding" since I accepted the role of USGenWeb Linn County Coordinator, though I certainly haven't appeared very active yet! Two things have kept me from progressing as quickly as I had hoped. Firstly, immediately after taking the reins from Jan Phillips, my "dot com" job turned nightmarish and I was engaged in some 70-hour work weeks. Secondly, my ISP -- Teleport -- changed hands and I have had significant troubles with my system since then. Some emails were taking weeks to arrive, and I was frequently unable to get connected at all. Since I've maintained the same email address about seven years now, I was loathe to give up on it. But it has made website access and email response very difficult. Some of you fellow Oregonians may be experiencing some of the same problems. Well, I've taken care of the first problem -- by quitting! I'll be looking for employment that will allow me to return to my beloved Oregon -- and get closer to Linn County -- in the near future, but in the meantime I'm enjoying my first real vacation in about three years. In fact, I made a brief trip to Linn Co. last week, and what a wonderful time I had. It was so good to be "home" during the first week of spring. And the second problem may be improving as well -- OneMain is finally addressing some of the performance problems. A threatened class action suit might have helped spur them into action. So, I am busy working on a new website layout, and preparing some new data materials to add as well. I had hoped to be finished with the new site sooner than this, but as it stands now, I expect to be finished by the end of this coming week. Stay tuned! In the meantime, I thought it might be a good time to do a "roll call" -- I don't believe I've seen one on this list recently. Please let us all know the Linn Co. surnames you're researching. And please also let me know if you'd like this information added to a new "Researchers" page I'm preparing for the new site. My surnames are: THAYER, IRVINE, JOHNSON (JAMES HARRISON), BROCK, WIGLESWORTH, SHELTON, RAY, ELDER, ZELL, and a bunch of others! Thanks for your patience as I get the new website ready, and happy spring to you all! Lisa L. Jones Linn Co. Coordinator mailto:[email protected] P.S. Currently, there are 83 subscribers to ORLinn-L and 33 subscribers to ORLinn-D mailing lists. Hope to hear from all of you!
Terri, I don't see your Abraham Beidler in the Crawfordsville Cemetery at all. I have been to that cemetery- it is about 1 and 1/2 hrs. drive from my home. I have relatives there. I am looking at the complete identified people "list" who are buried there, which I downloaded/copied from the Linn County web site about a year ago. He just isn't there. There are two cemeteries in Sweet Home and each is at each end of the town. There is Liberty Baptist (I have relatives there) and there is Gilliland (I have relatives there). All of the towns.... Sweet Home, Crawfordsville, Holley, Brownsville, Foster, etc... are in close proximity to each other. There is one cemetery in Brownsville- (I have relatives there). In Crawfordsville, or around that area/ Holley/ Sweet Home/ etc.... there are other small cemeteries- Findley is one of them. (P.S. I have heard of another cemetery which is "so many miles" from the Brownsville entrance to the city- which is in driving towards Crawfordsville. I don't think there is a name for it. It is in my notes somewhere, not sure.... It is so many miles and then you make a turn at a house, and go a long side the house, get out and walk up thru brush, etc.... It's hard to find.- none of my relatives are there...) I hope this helps. Deana
I'm trying to find the burial place in Crawfordsville for Abraham Beidler, who died in 1892 in Cottage Grove, but is said to be buried in Crawfordsville. I don't know how many cemeteries there are there, and whether they are cataloged or not, but any help, suggestions, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Terri [email protected]

I was wondering if your Enoch might be her brother, as she had a brother by that name. I have no information on Enoch other than his name, nor any info on his descendants. Orpha's parents were William Thompson and Emily Hammet. She was born 20 Feb 1804 in Pendleton District, SC. She was married to John Griffin Richardson on 16 April 1818 in Madison Co., Illinois. Her siblings were John (1795), Milly (1799), Elijah (1804), William, James, Willis, Enoch, and Ruth. Don't have my ODLC info in front of me, but I believe they crossed in 1853. If our lines are the same, I would really like to hear from you. Lance Mackey [email protected]
