She was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Santa Monica, Calif. After graduating from high school, she became a model for several years and later was a homemaker. She married Bill Thompson on March 23, 1940, and they were married for 68 years before he died on Jan. 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Johnston, of Yachats; her son, Bill Thompson Jr., of Salem, Ore.; grandsons, Scott Copeland of Springfield, Ore., Aaron Thompson of Austin, Texas; granddaughters, Angela Copeland of Eugene, Ore., Dana Copeland of Yachats, Tracy Thompson of Beaverton, Ore. and Marcella Fredericks of Culver City, Calif.; two great-grandsons and four great-great granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Lincoln Ambulance, P.O. Box 31, Yachats, OR 97498. A life celebration will be held March 27, 2010 with details to be announced at a later date. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is handling arrangements. Note: "Yachats" is pronounced "Ya-hots".
