She was born Dec. 29, 1918 to Richard and Esther Agnew in Portland, Ore. She married Alfred "Earl" Houghton in 1937, and in 1944, they moved to Newport. During her 50 years in Newport, she owned Newport Florist and June's Boutique. She also worked for several local businesses. She was a 40-year member of the Yaquina Art Center. She loved Newport and its people. She also loved gardening, working on crafts and walking on the beach. Her husband owned the Beach Distributing Company in Newport for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Houghton. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Steensen of Vancouver, Wash. and Janet Houghton of Loomis, Calif.
