'Charlie' Fandrich Karl H. "Charlie" Fandrich, 84, of Depoe Bay, Ore., died Feb. 26, 2010 at his home. He was born March 7, 1925 to Karl and Emma Fandrich in Bielefeld, Germany. He was raised in Bielefeld, and later married Elfriede Beiner in Bielefeld on April 14, 1946. They both moved to America in 1954 and lived in Oregon until 1956. He became a U.S. citizen in 1959. He moved to California until 1964 and then returned to Oregon, where he lived the rest of his life with his wife of 63 years. Throughout his life, he worked as a long-haul truck driver, restaurant manager and electronics inspector. He loved the ocean and boating and fishing. He also loved the game of Keno. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Emma Fandrich; and two younger brothers. He is survived by his wife, Elfriede "Fritzy" Fandrich of Depoe Bay; close family friend Eileen Pfahl; and many nieces and nephews living in Germany and the western United States. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospice, P.O. Box 767, Lincoln City, OR 97367. Affordable Burial and Cremation is handling arrangements.
