He was born June 15, 1924 to Robert and Phoebe (Mercer) Turner in Portland, Ore. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Betty Stark on Feb. 8, 1947 in Portland. He worked for a sign manufacturing company in Portland until 1974, when he purchased Coast Neon Sign Company in Newport, Ore. He manufactured and serviced signs on the Oregon coast until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Newport. He also enjoyed models, latch and hook rugs and doing projects around home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Turner. He is survived by his son, Dan (Donna) Turner of Tillamook; grandsons, David (Ellen) Turner of Newport; Darrin (Jenny) Turner of Toledo, Ore.; and five great-grandchildren.
