He was born Aug. 9, 1918 to James W. Anthony and Ethel Mecoy of Three Sands, Okla. After high school, he attended Jack's Industrial Engine and Machine Shop School in Tonkawa, Okla. completing a two-year course. As an adult, he went into heavy equipment work for Paul Hardeman Construction in California as equipment supervisor and general manager of equipment. He later worked for Ralph M. Parsons out of Pasadena, Calif. They sent him all over the world to fix problems with their heavy equipment. He loved this work because of the travel, especially the five years he spent in and out of Iran. After returning to the states, he moved to Long Beach, Calif., living on his boat and enjoyed boating off the southern California coast. He moved to Newport in 1988, where he lived on his boat at the Embarcadero Marina until he moved to Oceanview Senior Living in September of 2007. He is survived by his brother, Ernest "Jack" (Sandra) Anthony of Medford, Ore.; his sister Florence Keener of Lincoln, Calif.; and cousin Vella Harris of Everett, Wash. He requested that no services be held and that his ashes be scattered at sea. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
