He was born Aug. 5, 1954 to Roger Hyres and Gloria (Mariner) Halle in Minn. He married Nancy Sutherland on Aug. 28, 1975 in Lincoln City, Ore. Following their marriage, they resided in Lincoln City, where he worked at Salishan Chevron from 1981 to 1989. He resided in Burlington, Wash. for a while where he worked at a service station. He also spent time in Minnesota, where he worked in multiple wrecking yards from 1993 to 1996. He then moved back to Oregon, where he worked for Babb's Body Shop from 1996 to 2004. During the last seven years, Roger formed a close relationship with God through Bible studies and discussions with his pastor. He was baptized at Faith Baptist Church in November 2008. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, visiting with friends and collecting John Deere and Harley Davidson memorabilia. He also loved spending time with his grandkids, taking care of his dogs and watching the History Channel. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Velma Babb. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Evans of Otis; sons, John (Eileen) of Otis, and Mike (Gretchen) of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Stacey (Pedro) of McMinnville, Ore.; and eight grandchildren. A celebration of life was held April 10 at Faith Baptist Church. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Lincoln City is handling arrangements.
