She was born Jan. 13, 1951 to James Abram McMaster and Phyllis Elaine (McMaster) Trentadue in Elgin, Ill. She went to a private college in Riverside, Calif. and moved to Albany, Ore. in 1971, where she met Clifford R. Martin. They moved to Newport in 1975, and later built a home in Toledo where they have lived for the past 20 years. She was a stay-at-home wife and mom who spent the last 27 years homeschooling her six children. She was a beautiful, compassionate, strong woman, who gave generously of her time to everyone who came into her life. Her three-year battle against cancer inspired everyone who knew her. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking, spending time with her family and reading to her grandsons. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Cliff Martin; sons, Tim (Mandy) Martin of Toledo, and Luke Martin of Toledo; daughters, Lisa (Jeremy) Pietzold of Sandy, Ore., Charis Martin of Portland, Ore., Kirsty Martin of Toledo, and Amy Martin of Toledo; her mother Phyllis and stepfather Ralph of Poplar Grove, Ill.; her stepmother Betty McMaster of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Kathi Martens of Tucson, Becky Burnell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Angela Trentadue of Madison, Wis.; three brothers, James McMaster of Tucson, Philip McMaster of Nashville, Tenn., and David McMaster of Juneau, Alaska; and five grandsons. A gathering to remember her will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, at the Shilo Inn banquet rooms in Newport. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements.
