McDaniels Gertrude A. McDaniels, 93, of Lincoln City, Ore. died of natural causes April 1, 2010 at Lakeview Senior Living in Lincoln City. She was born April 13, 1916 to William John Tucker, Sr. and Bessie Grace Middlekauff Tucker in Roundup, Mont. She was the oldest of seven children and spent the early years of her life the same way she did the rest of it; taking care of her family with everything she had. When she turned 18, she moved to Portland, Ore. to take care of her blind grandmother Middlekauff. She met her future husband, Thomas Woodrow McDaniels, who was her brother Admyrld's friend. She and Thomas wed at the Assembly of God Church in Portland on Feb. 28, 1942. They lived with grandmother Garlan McDaniels until they purchased their first home in Portland. Her husband retired from truck driving in 1976, and they moved to the Oregon coast. He died five years after retiring due to complications of cancer. Her daughter, Janice, moved in with her in 1985 along with her two children, Janelle Jennifer Ann Klaar and Joel Jeffrey Alexander Klaar. Gertrude spent her remaining years taking care of her grandchildren while her daughter provided a source of income. She enjoyed long walks on the beach, gardening and watching the Trail Blazers. She also enjoyed baking, writing and taking care of children and her family. She moved into Lakeview Senior Living in 2004. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Calvary Lutheran Church and Faith Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Woodrow McDaniels, and siblings Admyrld Foster, William John Jr., Edward A., Virginia Mae, Adelaide Faye and Paul. She is survived by her daughters, Judith-Ann Steinfeld and Janice Kay Klaar, both of Lincoln City; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Oregon City Evangelical Church, 1024 Linn Ave. in Oregon City. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Lincoln City is handling arrangements. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
