He was born Oct. 9, 1940 to Merrill and Vivian Smith. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He became a HAM operator at the age of 12 (KB7US), which became his lifetime hobby. He especially loved computing and spent several hours a day on computers. He was often called the "computer guru" by his friends and family, who he would help with their computer problems. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathleen Smith; brother-in-law, Bill (Mary) Flower; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Dennis Hopkins) Gentry. Condolences and personal reflections may be sent to P.O.
