She was born April 21, 1923 in Gates, Ore., the second child of Lance and Ella Stewart. In 1941, she married Clifford LaVine in Vancouver, Wash. After their marriage they started their family. World War II separated them as her husband served as one of Patton's Boys in the U.S. Army. Following the war, the growing family took up residence in Toledo where they resided for the remainder of their lives. She and her husband were blessed to have 63 years of marriage. She found great comfort in God's love and her family and friends. While being a consummate homemaker and working at the Toledo and Newport hospitals, she still found time to make special memories with each of her children. She was able to create a life filled with fun and adventure. She enjoyed being someone who could find humor, beauty and love in all things. As a hostess, chef, gardener, quilter and faithful follower of God, she represented the essence of a time gone by, and left a legacy of grace, kindness and love.
