He was 54. Jim was born on Feb. 10, 1956, in Seattle. He was raised in Seattle and graduated from Lincoln High in 1975. Jim did a Boeing machinist apprenticeship program and then worked as an automobile mechanic, a Boeing machinist, a car salesman and was a well-respected painter. Jim enjoyed riding quads and loved to walk his dog and cats. He was an animal lover and rescuer, volunteered his time at the Lincoln County Jail and was a very loyal friend and kind person. His greatest loves were his family, the woods, his pets and a great laugh. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Walter of Rose Lodge; daughter Nicole Walter of Seattle; son Matthew Leptick of Indiana; mother Donna Walter of Seattle; sisters Cindy Walter of Marysville, Wash., and Kathleen Taylor of Temecula, Calif.; brothers David Walter of Edmonds, Wash., Michael Walter of Depoe Bay and Steven Walter of Lincoln City; sister Jennifer Walter of Albany; and four grandchildren. His father died earlier. There will be a memorial Mass at noon Saturday, April 24, at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1139 N.W. Highway 101, Lincoln City.
