Today, the 90-ton superheated steam boiler engine, with its 2-8-2 wheel configuration and 50-ton tender for fuel oil and water, is the centerpiece of the Yaquina Pacific Railroad Society Museum in Toledo. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the museum includes a restored Rail Post Office Car and other intriguing exhibits. The reliable steamer served in the logging industry, hauling the giant timber of the coast until retirement in 1959.
