Jo was born in McVille, North Dakota in 1925. After joining Frankie Masters big band as a singer and touring the country in the 1940s, she married musician Charlie Drake and settled in Los Angeles where she raised a family and worked for Pierce College as assistant to the president. She and Charlie, her beloved husband of fifty years, later retired in Lincoln City, Oregon. She is survived by her son, Tom Drake, of Simi Valley, California and daughter, Diane Drake, of Santa Monica California, as well as three grandchildren, Danielle, Tyler and Danae; and her sister, Marty Baxter. Her ashes will be inurned at Pacific View Memorial Gardens in her adopted home of Lincoln City, Oregon. A celebration of her life will be held at the home of her daughter, Diane, in Santa Monica, California on Saturday, April 6th, 2013.
