Brent Gainer Honored Newport Mayor Sandra Roumagoux applies the Distinguished Service Award pin to the uniform of Police Det. Brent Gainer, who was honored for his investigative work in the April Loper kidnapping case between December 2011 and February 2013. He served as the lead for the investigation and was delegated as "second chair" to Chief Deputy District Attorney Marcia Buckley during the trial of Thomas Acosta, who was convicted in February of sex-related crimes by a Lincoln County Circuit Court jury.
