Smith's diaries in descriptions about fishing on the Alsea River and Fall Creek from 1944 until he died in 1967, visiting T.D. and Annie Hockema - he called them Dagwood and Annie Rooney, I think - and their sons Cecil "Cese," Everett, Gene and Lloyd. He helped with the vegetable garden at their farm and hunted with family members. Interested in sorting out the relationships of the Hockemas for diary footnotes.
