He was born March 31, 1924 in Menno, South Dakota. He was one of thirteen children born to Emil Ott and Emilie (Remiert) Ott. Albert moved to Toledo in 1945. After arriving in Toledo he worked in lumber mills until he went into the army in 1948 where he served until 1950. Albert married Lillian Lee Scanlon on December 24, 1948 in Salinas, California. Christmas Eve would have been their 65th wedding anniversary. After being discharged from the military they settled in Philomath, Oregon where Albert worked in the Ben Ellis Lumber Mill until 1963. In 1963 the family moved to Toledo and Albert entered into a partnership with his brother-in-law, Ray Scanlon. Together they built and remodeled homes in the Lincoln County area for over fifteen years. They built the two "Welcome to Toledo" signs that can still be seen at either entrance to Toledo. After two surgeries, one in 1976 and another in 1979, Albert was forced to retire. Albert and Lillian were blessed with three children: Marvin, Diana and Linda. Albert enjoyed many card games, and time spent with all of his family. He loved to work with wood and made many bird houses, toys for the children, small pieces of furniture, display shelves and more. Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Ott; son: Marvin (Donna) Ott of Albany; daughter: Diana (Ken) Potter of Toledo; one sister: Erna Zeeb of South Dakota; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; eleven siblings; a step-son: Fred Ott; and daughter: Linda Kay Greene.
