Lowell was born in Baldwin Park, CA on 06/09/1932 to Benjamin Harrison and Verna Alma (Groth) Frye. He graduated in 1950 from Covina High School, where he excelled in football. He entered the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Alaska on the USCGC Clover. He met and married Mary Frances McKay in 1955 in Covina, CA. He worked for Littlejohn's Dairy and Azusa Rock before becoming a police officer for the City of Baldwin Park, CA in 1957. In 1968, they moved to Oregon where he went to work for the Albany Police Dept. After he retired in 1989, Mary and Lowell moved to Siletz, where he went to work for Georgia Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Frances Frye, sister Vada Benge, brother Lawrence (Bud) Frye, and nephew Larry Benge. He is survived by his sister, Doris Anderson of Fillmore, UT, daughters: Michealene Joerg of Dubach LA and Jolene Watson (Philip) of Lebanon; son, Curtis (Lauren) Frye of Roseburg. Grandchildren: David Oliver III of Salem, OR, Joshua (Barbie) Joerg of Montgomery, TX, Matthew (Katie) Joerg of Dubach, LA, Gregory Oliver of Lebanon, OR, Mackenzie Frye and Ethan Frye of Roseburg. Great grandson, Cole Harrison Joerg of Dubach, LA, and great granddaughters: Aubrey Nicole Oliver of Lebanon, OR and Austin Wylder Joerg of Montgomery, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Lowell made many friends over his 30 year law enforcement career and they remained very important to him. Lowell enjoyed being with friends and family. Lowell loved sports and spent many hours sitting in the stands watching his grandchildren. One of his greatest pleasures this last year was watching his grandson Greg, coach basketball for Jefferson High school. A memorial service is being held Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 am at the Logsden Neighborhood Church, Logsden, OR. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jefferson Boys Basketball team Jefferson OR c/o Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St. Lebanon, OR 97355.
