Adams Brenda J. Adams, 55, of Newport, Ore. died May 3, 2010 in Toledo, Ore. She was born Feb. 8, 1955 to Eugene T. Adams and Verl E. (Colter) Adams in Vancouver, Wash. She managed a roadhouse in Canby, Ore. She was also a trainer of racing greyhounds and animal welfare coordinator of Greyhound Adoptions at Multnomah Greyhound Park. She was the first female deputy state judge for the Oregon Racing Commission until her illness forced her to retire. She was a volunteer at Newport Senior Activity Center and helped start Friends of the Aquatic Park. In spite of her struggles, she somehow found time to take care of anyone who needed it. She enjoyed adventuring to festivals and community events with her husband. She enjoyed Newport and its people. She was preceded in death by her mother, Verl Adams. She is survived by her husband, Gregory Barnard of Newport; siblings, Spike Adams, Sam Adams and Suzi Weber, all of Vancouver, Wash.; and her father, Eugene Adams of Vancouver, Wash. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, at the Newport Senior Activity Center, 20 SE Second St. Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter or Friends of the Aquatic Park.
