He was born Aug. 31, 1950 to Ralph and Othell Jones in Fresno, Calif. He served six years in the U.S. Navy, and after being honorably discharged, he married Judy Solmon while attending Oregon College of Education. He is survived by his wife, Judy Jones of Yachats; daughter, Sally Jones of Ellensburg, Wash.; and son, Jasper Jones of Twentynine Palms, Calif. He was laid to rest in a graveside service May 1 at the Yachats Cemetery. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is handling arrangements. Note: "Yachats" is pronounced "Ya-hots".
