DuRette of Otis died April 23, 2010, in Lincoln City. He was 77. Hugh was born March 30, 1933, in Salem to Cecil and Nellie DuRette. After graduating high school in Eugene, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard for eight years and then the U.S. Corps of Engineers for 20 years. Hugh was a member of the BPOE and the Elks Lodge. On July 21, 1978, Hugh married Nonda Newport, who died on Feb. 20, 2008. Hugh is survived by daughters Cindy DuRette of St, Helens and Terry Newport of Otis; and two grandsons, Chris Dutson and Bradley Chesebro, both of St. Helens.
