He was born May 25, 1947 to Edward E. Irons and Shirley "Gwen" Wilson in San Francisco, Calif. Throughout his life, he managed several restaurants successfully. He also attended college at Rex Community College. He was most proud of serving honorably in the U.S. Army. He spent much of his service time in Vietnam and was given at least two medals during his enlistment, though he rarely discussed it. He loved sports of all types but was especially fond of football and baseball. He played on city leagues several times. He was also an avid pool player. He loved music and was particularly fond of the golden oldies. He enjoyed classic cars and attended many car shows. He spent many years in the communities of Gold Beach, Ore., Newport, Ore. and Port Angeles, Wash. and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Newport. He made friends easily and had a great sense of humor. In the mornings he met friends for coffee and worked on a daily crossword puzzle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Shirley Irons. He is survived by his children, Tracy Irons Grajales, Ethan Allen Irons, Kristin J. Irons Fragoso, Gary Shane Irons and Heather Cooper; four siblings, Jeff Bench of Utah, Debbie Bench Hanson of southern Oregon, John Blanton of New York and Candace Blanton Burckley of Kentucky; and 11 grandchildren.
