Police found Chancey Ann Gopshes dead in her home on Benton Street in the Beverly Beach area after Daniel Anthony Gopshes, 60, called 911 at about 1 a.m. and reported that he had killed his wife in their home. He told police he was in the parking lot of the Lincoln County Jail prepared to turn himself in. Newport police officers responded and found Daniel Gopshes, who was armed, sitting in his vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident. The Lincoln County Major Crime Team was activated today to investigate Gopshes' death.
