She was born May 1, 1920 to George and Vida (Proctor) Compton in Maltby, Wash. She was a graduate of the University of Washington School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for Drs. Barker and Forinash in Newport for more than 30 years. On Dec. 5, 1942, she married Charles E. Fogarty. She loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt. She was an avid writer in her travel and daily journals and took great joy in being a member of a Bunco group. She was a committed member of the St. James Episcopal Church and served on the church guild and was also a member of Business and Professional Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vida Compton; her husband, Charles Fogarty; brother, Errol Compton; and sister-in-law, Norma Compton. She is survived by her son, George E. Fogarty and fiancée Stephanie Hensley, of Lincoln City; daughter, Joanie (John) Hanby of Portland; daughter, Carol Fogarty of Portland; granddaughters, Alison (Eamon) McManus of Durham, U.K., and Kendra (Dermot) Maty of Portland; and great-grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin McManus. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Episcopal Parish of St. James Church in Lincoln City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 2490 NE Hwy 101, Lincoln City, OR 97367. Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City is handling arrangements.
