"Chuck" Stokes Richard C. "Chuck" Stokes, age 64 of Waldport, Oregon passed away October 7, 2013 in Newport, Oregon. Chuck was born June 9, 1949 in Toledo, Oregon to Richard Homer and Anabelle (Schuchardt) Stokes. In 1968 Chuck graduated from Benson Tech. in Portland, Oregon. On June 7, 1969 he married Nita Fifield. They later divorced in 1975, but they had one child from their marriage: Tina Stokes Gehring. On February 14, 1975 Chuck married Cheryl (Null) Stokes and later adopted her three children - Dawn, Charles and Tasha. Chuck was a car hauler truck driver for Ryder that enjoyed woodworking, and belonged to the Waldport Moose Lodge and Florence Elks. Chuck is survived by his wife Cheryl; daughters: Tina (Stokes) and husband Doug Gehring, Tasha Stokes and Dawn Stokes; Grandsons: Christopher Stokes, Charles R. Poppen, Raymond Stokes, Calub Stokes, Tyler Stokes, Evan Stokes; Brothers: Bill Stokes and wife Nita (Martin), and Lyle La Framborse. Chuck was preceded in death by his son: Charles Stokes; grandfather: Homer C. Stokes; Father: Richard H. "Dick" Stokes; mother: Annabelle Nelson; and cousin Fred Kindrick. A Celebration of Life service will be private and held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Bateman Funeral Home.
