Jefferson, 84, of Salem, Ore., died Sept. 29, 2010 at his home. He was born April 3, 1926 to Chester and Alice Jefferson in Salem. He grew up in the Lake Labish area and attended Salem schools. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married V. "Irene" Miller in 1948. They later divorced. In 1972, he married Judy Beth (Gamble) MacConnell. She preceded him in death. He owned a trucking business. He served nine years as a Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy. He later drove truck for outfits on the central Oregon coast and in the Willamette Valley. He was a member of the Pioneers of Labish, VFW, the Elks Club, and the Lincoln Grange. He liked spending time with family and friends, working on RVs, fishing, hunting and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Alice Jefferson; brother, Bert; sister, Donna Heilman; and great-grandson, Patrick Martin. He is survived by his eight children, Brad (Carol) Jefferson, Brenda ("Woody") Woodhull, Bruce Jefferson, Gail Jefferson, Danita (Rick) Cahill, Dan (Gayle) MacConnell, David (Tiffany) Jefferson and Sean (Kelly) Jefferson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his companion, Beverlee Cuellar.
