Author: marysday Surnames: Hurtt, Madewell, Rooks Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oregon.counties.lincoln/5607/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The News Guard, Lincoln City, OR 97367 October 12, 2010 C. Jefferson Hurtt V C. Jefferson Hurtt V of Lincoln City died Oct. 2. He was 53. Jeff was born May 31, 1957, in Orange, Calif., to Dr. C. Jefferson Hurtt IV and Winifred Jean Hurtt. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He received his AA from Yuba College and had a BS in Theology. Jeff was a man of God first. And the cost of that decision was never too high for him. He loved the Lord, serving as a pastor of New Life Bible Fellowship and police chaplain with the Shady Cove Police Department. He also had the wonderful opportunity to open the State Senate Session with prayer. He was a cherished husband, loving father and very proud to be a grandpa to "Maddie-Bean." Jeff loved his family and loved living on the Oregon Coast. At Christmas he was one of the biggest kids of the family, an accomplished cross-stitcher and created may works of art. Most of all he had a sense of humor. He loved to laugh and those who knew him will never forget the sound of his laughter. His sermons were touching and scriptured, and they, too, even contained a touch of his humor. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hurtt of Lincoln City; his son C. Jefferson Hurtt VI, wife, Mary Madewell, and their daughter Madison Hurtt; and his sister, Lynette Rooks. His parents died earlier. Services have been held.
