She was born Oct. 23, 1932 to Joel and Mary Chaudoin in Clifton, Ariz. She was a telephone operator before graduating from California State at Fullerton. She later earned her teacher certificate at Bakersfield College and worked as a teacher for the Kern County Schools in Delano, Calif. She married Walter Bowman on Sept. 24, 1961 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in the City of Orange, Calif. for many years. She was also a member of the Berg and Tal Ski Club, Arizona Eastern Star, and the American Contract Bridge Association. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shawn Valdez. She is survived by her husband, Walter Bowman of Newport; daughter, Julie (Victor) Valdez of Yakima; granddaughter, Shannon Walker of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons, Zachery and Jarret Valdez of Yakima; and great-granddaughters, Ashley, Alicia, and Alexandria of Phoenix. A small service will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, for immediate family and friends at the family home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan Pacific Hospice, P.O. Box 945, Newport, OR 97365. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is handling arrangements.
