Tollett David F. Tollett, 74, of Waldport, Ore., died of pneumonia on Sept. 9, 2010 at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. He was born Nov. 11, 1935 to Harold and Evelyn Tollett in Salinas, Calif. He honorably served the United States for five years in the U.S. Navy, obtaining the rank of EM3. His dream of retiring from the military was cut short when he sustained an injury to his back. He later worked at his lifelong love of gunsmithing and also worked as a flagger. He was a lifelong Catholic. In 1956, he married Gladys L. Shoop in Kelso, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Tollett. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gladys Tollett; children, Debbie Blakely of Deadwood, Ore., Denise Kowitz of Yachats, Sherri Tollett of Newport, and David Tollett Jr. of Denin, Ore.; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
