She was born April 8, 1964 to Albert Leroy and Dorothy May (Goff) Fortado in San Diego, Calif. She attended grade school in Chula Vista, Calif. and graduated from high school in Decatur, Ill. She loved life and living near the beach. She always wanted to live near the water so she could go and visit the ocean, or "Poseidon" as she called it. She loved reading romance and vampire books, making jewelry, playing on the computer and writing and editing books from the computer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dorothy Fortado. She is survived by her siblings, Theresa "Terri" Wheeler from Gardner, Mass., Debra (Goff) Etter from West Columbia, Texas, Gregory Fortado from San Diego, and Terri Fortado from Newport; nephews, David K. Etter and Adam Fortado; and nieces, Nicole Etter Williams and Angela Fortado. A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Longview Hills Clubhouse, 450 NE 58th St. in Newport. Memorial donations may be made to Terri Fortado for financial help.
