Darst, 89, of Lincoln City, Ore., died Sept. 18, 2010. She was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Portland, Ore. She graduated from Grant High School in 1939. She married Robert E. Darst in 1943; they divorced in 1974. She moved to Washington after the war, living in Pullman, Langley on Whidbey Island and Port Orchard. She retired from the Sun newspaper in Bremerton in 1986 and moved to Lincoln City, where she worked part-time at various stores at the outlet mall until her final retirement at the age of 83. Her favorite "granddogs," Bosch and Mugly, and cat Tessie were special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy M. Moore. She is survived by her son, Paul (Diane) M. Darst, of Port Orchard, Wash.; daughter, Donna (Kim) L. Seeto of Lincoln City; and grandchildren, Indy Darst, Cory Seeto and Asher Cody Erickson. A small memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at New Life Foursquare Church in Lincoln City. Memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Newport.
