He was born March 12, 1937 to Edward Beatty and Delores E. Hunter Beatty in Franklin, Pa. He joined the Marines when he was 17 and served in Haiti and Guam. He came back to California from the service and moved to Pennsylvania, then back to California. He attended American River College, majoring in engineering and earning his degree in 1970. He retired from Rice Growers Cooperative and moved to Newport in 1995. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, photography and computers. He also loved genealogy. He was a renaissance man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Delores Beatty; brothers, Edward and Eugene; sister Bernadine; and great-aunt Martha Hazelett. He is survived by his two sons, Guy Beatty of Texas and Robert (Kristy) Beatty Jr. of Pennsylvania; brother, James Beatty of Florida; sisters, Sally Beatty of Pennsylvania, and Arnetta Bahlow of Georgia; and two grandchildren. Per his request there is no service. Memorial donations may be made to Food Share of Lincoln County or the Moose Lodge. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements.
