She was born Feb. 9, 1915 as Margaret Reinhart Selby to parents, Thomas Jefferson and Hazel (Reinhart) Selby in New Lexington, Ohio. She attended community schools, graduating high school then completing business school in Columbus, Ohio. She met her husband of almost 40 years, Elmer Price, and was married Feb. 8, 1939. They moved to the West Coast following Elmer's dream to explore the Middle East by traveling on a freighter and exploring the ports of call when the ship docked. That dream was postponed by the mariners' strike of 1939, causing the Prices to move to Seattle, Wash. where he became employed for the Seattle Post. In 1950, they moved to Toledo, where she and her husband began their work with the Lincoln County Leader. The two worked hand in hand for more than 25 years, publishing the Lincoln County Leader and developing modernized weekly newspaper delivery. They also owned and managed the Toledo Feed and Seed store after retiring from the newspaper business. She additionally owned and managed the Magic Mirror beauty salon for about 30 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a life long member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Price. She is survived by daughters, Toni Hockema of Toledo and Kim Brown of Monroe; grandsons, Dustin Hockema and Tyson Hockema; granddaughters, Tracy Andrews and Shawn Brown; six great-grandchildren, a niece, and two nephews. A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements.
