Wentworth, 92, of Waldport, Ore., died Aug. 17, 2010. She was born Sept. 13, 1917 in Trumann, Ark. With only a grade school education, she made her way west to work in the Alameda, Calif. shipyards during World War II. This led her to meeting her future husband, Ted Wentworth, who preceded her in death in 1975. While raising her family in Oakland, Calif., she was a Cub Scout den mother, Campfire Girl leader, and "block mom" to numerous children. She was always there when the kids came home from school. As a widow with her children grown, she joined various ladies organizations, proudly becoming treasurer and president. She traveled the world, thrilled to have walked where Jesus walked. She moved to Waldport for her final years. She is survived by her son, Richard (Julie) Wentworth of Tracy, Calif.; daughter, Catherine (Jack) Peterson of Waldport; grandson, Dustin Wentworth; two nieces, two nephews and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. At her request, private cremation rites were held through Burns' Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home with internment to be held at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park in Hayward, Calif.
