He was born Oct. 16, 1918 to John F. and Dottie M. (Burgoyne) Greeninger in Eden, Idaho. He grew up in Jerome, Idaho, and later attended Florida Bible Institute, where he received a bachelor's degree. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship U.S.S. Guam in World War II. He married IvaLee Susan Cruise in Lebanon on Feb. 16, 1947. He worked in refrigeration and air conditioning until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with this family, as well as music, flying airplanes, camping and fishing. His hobbies also included photography, singing in a band, and playing the organ, piano, saxophone, clarinet, guitar and mandolin. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He is survived by his wife, IvaLee Greeninger; his sons, Danny Greeninger and Fred Greeninger; his daughter, Diana Vallelunga; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 710 Second Ave., Suite 900, Seattle WA 98104. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in The Dalles is handling arrangements.
