The two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Washington man and left several others seriously injured. (Courtesy photo by Robert Smith) (See attached Photo that appeared above this statement) Several others left with critical or serious injuries A Washington man died Thursday morning, and his wife was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 on the south side of Cape Foulweather. According to the Oregon State Police, a 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by William Wooley, 42, from Waldport, was headed south on Highway 101 at around 9:30 a.m. when it crossed the centerline for an unknown reason near milepost 131. Wooley's vehicle crashed head-on into a northbound, 2005 Nissan Altima, driven by Richard A. Wilson, 51, from Chehalis, Wash. Wilson was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, where he was pronounced deceased. His passenger/wife, Susan Louise Wilson, 53, was seriously injured and was initially transported by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City and then transferred by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Wooley was also seriously injured in the crash and was transported by ambulance to the Newport hospital. He was then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. There were three passengers in the Expedition with Wooley. Luann C. Cleveland, 40, of Waldport was critically injured. She was transported by REACH air ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. Megan Flanagan, 12, of Waldport was transported by ambulance to the Lincoln City hospital with minor injuries. And Anica Jameson, 12, of Florence, who was seriously injured, was transported to the Newport hospital and then transferred by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command office are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Lincoln City Police Department, Depoe Bay Fire Department, Newport Fire Department, Pacific West Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted.
