She was born Aug. 23, 1926 to Bertha Shelton Larsen and Arthur C. Larsen in Roosevelt, Utah. While living in Arcadia, Utah, she attended schools in Myton and Roosevelt. Her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she joined the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve, taking basic training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. She met and married George P. Chorn, who had just been discharged from the U.S. Army. They lived in Utah, followed by Orange County, Calif. and then Toledo, Ore. After her husband died, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz. to be by her son, Paul, and grandson, Brinn. She was a member of the Granite Reef Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Phoenix before returning to Utah on Jan. 19, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Chorn; her parents, Bertha Shelton Larsen and Arthur C. Larsen; and brother, Lon C. Larsen. She is survived by her sisters, Helen L. Venneri of Taylorsville, Utah, and Betty L. Manwill of Oakley, Utah. Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home in Heber City, Utah is handling arrangements, with interment at Wasatch Lawn in Salt Lake City. A graveside service is pending.
