She was born Jan. 15, 1939 to David Jack Bond and Emma Jane Miller Bond in Aberdeen, Wash. She and her siblings moved around frequently while she was growing up. Her family lived in logging camps, and they eventually moved to Monroe, Ore. where she graduated from Monroe High School in 1957. After graduation, she spent a lot of time at the coast in Waldport, and met John Neal Haines Jr. They were married on Aug. 22, 1957 in Waldport. She worked as a waitress when she was 18, and when she turned 21 she worked as a cocktail waitress. She then became a bartender for 45 years, a job she loved. She also attended real estate school and received her license and worked as a real estate agent during the day. She was a people person and loved to travel. Her travels took her to Europe, Mexico, Canada, California, Mississippi, Montana, Washington and many other places. Her hobbies included crocheting, swimming and garage sales, and she was a collector of many different things. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Neal Haines Jr. She is survived by her son, John Neal Haines III; daughter, Mary Donean Haines; daughter-in-law, Joan Beatty Moore; and son-in-law, Roy Ivon Potter, Jr. of Waldport; siblings, Laramie Bond of Coos Bay, Pam Garrett of Forest Grove, and Norma Hubbard of South Bend, Wash.; grandchildren, Jenny Haines, Tyler Haines, James Haines, and Shania Haines; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Waldport Community Presbyterian Church, 485 NE Bay St. in Waldport. Memorial donations may be made to Mary Haines, 1161 SW Seabrook Lane, Waldport, OR 97394. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements.
