He was born to Virginia and Thomas Gordon in Japan. He was born into a military family, and during his youth he lived in Taiwan, Alaska, Washington, Wisconsin and Georgia before moving to Oregon in 1979. He recently retired after 31 years with Verizon. He loved fishing and golfing and was looking forward to spending even more pleasurable hours in Oregon's beautiful outdoors as a retired person. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hughes-Gordon, of Reston, Va.; his parents, Virginia and Thomas Gordon of Micanopy, Fla.; sons, Nicholas Zachary Gordon of Reston, and Andrew L. Gordon of Salem; brothers, Thomas L. Gordon of Portland, Douglas B. Gordon of Micanopy, Fla., Stuart K. Gordon of Micanopy, Fla., Alexander G. (Heather Isaacson) Gordon of Newberry, Fla.; sister, Laura V. (Tim) Gordon-Ward of Marietta, Ga.; nephews, Matthew, Zachary, Connor and Bryce; and nieces, Chandra and Monica. A visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Bateman Funeral Home, 915 NE Yaquina Heights Dr., in Newport.
