He was born Jan. 29, 1949 to Kenton Leroy Sanders and Mary Lou Dobbs in Youngstown, Ohio. He moved to Chicago with his family until age 11, when they moved to New York City. He lived in New York City for one year, then moved to Oakland, Calif. in 1961. He attended Oakland High School. During the 1960s he was involved in anti-war activities in the San Francisco Bay area. He moved from California to Portland, Ore. in 1972 and worked in the shipyards for five years. He became an apprentice journeyman in the pipefitting industry. He first worked for Local 235 in Portland in 1976 and then U.A. Local 290 Plumber, Steamfitter and Shipfitter industry. He established a household in Waldport in 1993, and on Oct. 3, 2000, he married Diane Lynn Price. He spent the last seven years working on developing his rural property outside of Waldport and working as a pipe fitter and welder until his retirement in 2005. He was a 34-year member of the U.A. Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking and traveling. He was an animal lover. One of his greatest passions was golfing, and he was a member of the Agate Beach Golf Course in Newport since 2008. He was a gifted photographer who was always looking at the world through the eyes of one who wants to capture the magic moments of life. He was interested in lapidary and jewelry making and spent time combing the central Oregon coast beaches in search of agates and other interesting rock specimens, which he would polish and use to make jewelry. He was devoted to environmental causes and human rights issues. He participated in local group activities of the Concerned Citizens for Clean Air (CCCA). He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his father Kenton Leroy Sanders; brother Jack Farrell Sanders; and son Corey Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Diane Lynn Sanders of Waldport; his mother, Mary Lou Dobbs-Montauk of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Paul Marvin Sanders of San Diego; and sister, Juliette Montauk of Charlotte.
