She was born July 14, 1938 to Floyd W. and Vera M. (Winfree) Page in Bend. She attended grade school at Kenwood and graduated in 1956 from Bend Senior High School. She majored in music, played drums in six different bands, and won the Master Musician award. She earned a scholarship to Boise State University. She played other instruments as well, such as piano and guitar, performed recitals, and enjoyed tap dancing. She married Lloyd Estes in 1961 in Carson City, Nev. and maintained their home in Tangent. They had three children together, and she was also a stepmother. On June 4, 2000, she married William E. Harris. She and William enjoyed traveling in their motor home, spending winters in Arizona and Mexico and making new friends on those trips. She drove school bus in Albany for several years and then in Alsea for 17 years. She had a passion for dogs, raising German Shepherds from 1970 to 1989 and then Rottweilers for the next 10 years. She trained and showed her dogs, as well as giving obedience classes. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, dancing, gardening and fishing. She was a member of the Waldport Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) at the Mayo Clinic in 2007. Because of the outstanding help, support and equipment provided by the ALS Association, the many doctors of the ALS clinic in Portland and especially the Benton Hospice staff she was allowed a substantially better quality of life. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Vera Page; two sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her husband, William E. Harris; her three children, Larry Estes of Keizer, Kelly Jones of Montana and Meloney Brittani Boese of Montana; stepdaughters Lavonne Haskins of Laramie, Wyo. and Lorraine Sedgin of South Carolina; brother Jerry; 26 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Waldport. Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Albany is handling arrangements.
