She was born to Axel & Anna Aasen, both of Norway. She graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon 1936. She married Kenneth M. Thompson in Portland, May 1940. They moved to Newport in 1942, where they raised three children, Bob, Jerry & Laurie. Agnes was a "stay at home mom". Her husband Kenny was a commercial Fisherman for 21 years until they were awarded the franchise for garbage collection in Newport. After 18 years they sold the business to their oldest son Bob & wife Sandi, soon after the sell of the company, they retired to a life of travel with friends. They were charter members of the Newport Elks 2105'ers Camper Club. She was a member of the Rhododendron Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, Newport Presbyterian Church, Elkettes and Top's Club #324. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Kenny in 2001 after 61 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her parents and sister Alice; brothers: Leif & Adolph. Agnes is survived by her son: Bob (Sandi) of Newport; son: Col. Jerry (Lynne) of Henderson, Nevada; daughter: Laurie (Burt) Tucker of Sandy, Oregon; grandchildren: Cindy Lampe of Kalama, Washington, Ken Riley of Newport, Mari Latimer of Bend, Oregon, Rob Thompson of Newport, Jeff Jones of Luke AFB, Phoenix, Arizona, Stephanie Jones of Sandy, Oregon, Michelle Johnson of Canyon County, California and Renee Heubner of Santa Clarita, California as well as 12 Great-Grandchildren. Agnes's memorial will be held at Bateman's Funeral Home on Monday, August 12th, at 2 o'clock. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
