She was born Oct. 2, 1926 to Josie Morris and Seymour Cleveland in Seattle, Wash. She married Delbert Knox on Nov. 27, 1948 in Kennewick, Wash. She lived in Newport and the surrounding area for most of her life. Along with her husband, they ran the Midway Theater in Newport and the Ross Theater in Toledo. Lois gave 27 years of service to Newport Middle School. She devoted her life to her family, her church and friends. She loved swimming and especially playing pinochle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; parents, Josie and Seymour Cleveland; and brother, F. Steve Cleveland. She is survived by her nieces, Sandy Davis of Coburg, Susy Boyer of Klamath Falls and Stacey Howard of Roseburg; nephew Mike Cleveland of La Pine; and several great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the First Baptist Church at 208 NW Sixth St. in Newport. Bateman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
