He was born Dec. 29, 1957 to Jose and Mary Paredes in Salinas, Calif. He owned and operated Sunrise Roofing for 20 years in Newport. A celebration of life was held Sept. 15 at the Moose Lodge in Springfield. He is survived by his mother, Mary Paredes-Mendoza of Eugene; son, Phillip Cato of Newport; daughters, Evonne Paredes of Fresno, Calif., Lisa Stanko of Michigan, Michelle Paredes and Melissa Paredes, both of Reno, Nev.; brother, Joe, of Eugene; sisters, Delores Wilson of Eugene, Victoria Paredes-Matson of Springfield and Lisa Paredes of Clovis, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
