She was born July 4, 1921 in Skagway, Alaska. Her father, Ken, was officiating at a tennis match when given the news of her birth. She loved her life in Skagway, hiking, skiing, ice skating and playing the piano with friends gathered around. She attended college in Cheney, Wash. and became a schoolteacher. She taught in Seattle and married Berk Hutchins. They raised three children in Seattle. In the 60s, she married Cy Lane and moved to Longview. She taught school and retired in the 70s, and moved to Newport with Cy in 1980. Cy was a member of the Newport Elks, and she was an Elkette, and in the Welcome Wagon group for a time. She also volunteered at the Newport library for about a year. Her husband passed away in November 2009, and in January 2010, she relocated to Seattle. She loved her family, teaching, music and reading. She was preceded in death by her mother, Muriel; father, Ken; husband, Cy Lane; and brother, John.
