He was born Aug. 22, 1942 to William Anton Garvison and Claris Milligan Garvison. He graduated from North Salem High School in 1961. While in the U.S. Navy, he served in Vietnam. He was previously married to Sandra Davis of Salem, and Gloria Marsellis of Salem. He then met and married Janet Garvison of Newport. Prior to moving to Coos Bay, he lived in Waldport and worked as a cook at the Flounder Inn Tavern for 14 years, retiring in December 2007. He was a member of the Waldport Moose Lodge #396. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Claris Garvison. He is survived by his wife, Janet Garvison; children, Susan Dihel, Anthony Hendren and Jennifer Betts; sisters, Elaine Carr and Bonnie Watts; and grandchildren, Michael and KayAnn Dihel, Marina and John Gust, Samantha Hendren and Jessica Hendren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Waldport Moose Lodge #396 at 250 NW John St. Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary in Coos Bay is handling arrangements.
