She was born Sept. 8, 1928 to William and Anna Bannon in Livingston, Mont. In 1946, she graduated from Park High School in Livingston with a perfect attendance record for all 12 years, something she was proud of. She married Norman Mattson on April 10, 1949 in Livingston. They moved to Newport in 1956. He passed away in 1968. She married Gifford (Skip) Minshall on June 11, 1969 in Newport. After retiring, they did a lot of traveling and made it to all 50 states. He preceded her in death in June 2008. She always had a smile for everyone who crossed her path. Her favorite pastime her whole life was dancing. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, who she said always kept her young. She loved flowers and could always be found in her yard planting just one more. She is survived by her children, Randy (Danette) Mattson of Butte, Mont., Mike (Tonni) Mattson of Galesburg, Ill, Scott (Sheila) Mattson of Livingston, Kristy (James) Norman of Toledo and Karlyn Johnson of Fort Collins, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. There will be no service per her request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan Pacific Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 945, Newport, OR 97365.
