Oden Roberts, 95, of the Pioneer Mountain area, died while recovering from a fall on Oct. 23, 2010 in Corvallis, Ore. She was born July 15, 1915 to Osee and Clara Oden in Wimer, Ore. She left southern Oregon to come to the Oregon coast. She always remembered crossing over the bay from South Beach to Newport on a ferry, as there was no bridge yet. She worked as a cook and housekeeper in Toledo before meeting and eventually marrying Pete T. Roberts. They were wed Sept. 5, 1936 in Vancouver, Wash. and had three children, Vonney L., Betty G. and Thomas R. Roberts. She was no stranger to pain, having had rheumatoid arthritis since age five. She and Pete lost their first born to pneumonia at the age of three. She was widowed in 2003. She enjoyed cooking, drawing, camping and taking care of the home the family had lived in since 1948. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Volney, Alfred and Otis Oden. She is survived by children, Betty G. Roberts, of Carson City, Nev. and Thomas and Sharon Roberts of Toledo, Ore.; three grandchildren, Michelle Stark and Joe Aja of Carson City, Shannon and Melody Roberts of Toledo and Heather and Greg Adams of McMinnville; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Interment will be in Dundee in the Roberts' family plot. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
