She was born Elizabeth McClelland Hunt in Denver, Colo. on Feb. 6, 1947 to Buzz and Dudley Hunt of Boulder. She was the youngest of four daughters. The Hunt family moved to Portland in 1953, and Liz graduated from the Catlin Gable School in 1965. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. and Portland State University. In 1969, She moved to Meadville, Pa. to dedicate herself to being a caregiver for her grandmother. There she also worked in a hospital and took classes in laboratory technology, beginning preparation for her later career in Oregon. She returned to Portland in 1975, then met and married Joseph Arvidson. They eventually moved to South Beach, where she began working in the laboratory at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. Their son, Alan Joseph Arvidson, was born in 1982. She moved to Cascade Head in 1985. Once again she became a caregiver for an older relative, her father. She also started her work at North Lincoln Hospital in the lab in various capacities, including supervisor. She continued to work until shortly before her death. She was a respected and valued colleague to her many friends at the hospital. She will be remembered as a compassionate, funny, loving and intelligent, quiet woman. She was active in Neskowin Valley School parent activities for the 10 years that her son, Alan, was a student there. She also served on the board of directors of the Cascade Head Ranch Homeowners Association and, for a time, as executive director of the Cascade Head Music Festival. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buzz and Dudley Hunt; and sister, Susan. She is survived by her son, Alan; sisters, Joan Robinson and Nancy Hunt; nephew, Jason Hunt Baumunk; and niece, Rachael Hunt Brownfield; A memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Neskowin Valley School, 10005 Slab Creek Road in Neskowin.
