Rouse Marjorie M. (Perin) Rouse, 86, of Waldport, Ore., died of age-related causes on Nov. 4, 2010 at her home. She was born Aug. 1, 1924 to Edward Charles Perin and Laura Frances (Flescher) Perin in Alsea. She grew up in Alsea, taking delight in being the pesky baby sister to her big brother, Louis. When she was five years old, she set her lifetime goal of growing up to be a good wife and mother. She married Paul Barclay on July 31, 1940. They divorced, and she married Earl (Red) Rouse on Jan. 19, 1948. Together they raised one son and six daughters. Her final 58 years were spent on the Oregon coast, enjoying everything the area has to offer. Many days found Marj and Earl crossing the bar in their 16-foot boat for a day of salmon fishing. Her reputation as a hunter was the envy of many younger family members. When not fishing, crabbing, clamming or hunting, she enjoyed her garden, flowers, sewing, cooking, canning, and when the day was winding down, calling one or two of her many friends or reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Rouse; parents Edward and Laura Perin; brother, Louis Perin; and daughters, Verna Morris and Judy Massey. She is survived by her son, Edward Barclay; daughters, Ruth (Clair) Coolbaugh, Pat (Manny) Vasquez, Cindy (Mark) Nessel and Linda Barclay; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. A graveside gathering for immediate family members will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, 360 West 7th, Yachats, OR 97498. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is handling arrangements. Note: "Yachats" is pronounced "Ya-hots". Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
